I argue more than I should and it's really getting to me, can someone put across some tips?

If by an argument you imply getting angry, then you would have to address the issue of anger. Anger i would think is an uncontrolled emotionaly triggered reaction and response in a given situation. In your case you say petty things get you mad--that would mean small irritation get you acting foul--you react when you get stessed. The solution to unpleasant 'reaction' is controlled 'action'. Your emotions feed your mind with feeling and your mind acts on that impluse. So what might help is for you to fine tune how your mind acts to various impluses. It is the mind which controls the body and the emotions. So the mind recieves input and ought to act with purposeful intent.
