Could injustice and oppression be the cause, when people turn to terrorism? What causes such desperation?

What really causes a person to turn to terrorism? Some would want you to think that they are inherently evil. The truth is that there are psychological links between oppresion hopelessness and haveing no one willing to help, that causes a person to turn to violence. Without the perception of people caring about you, how can you really care about other people?
