Shower problems!!!?

I have three knobs in my shower. Hot, Cold, and then the diverter to the shower head. The diverter allows for the cold water to ascend to the shower head while not allowing the hot water to do so. I am thinking I need to replace the diverter but am hoping that their is a better solution.. Any info is welcome
