How can i get rid of chest congestion ive had for a few weeks?

About 3 or 4 weeks ago my sister told me she thought she had bronchitis i didn't really think i could catch it because Ive never had it before . about a week later i noticed in the morning time i had a soar throat it wasn't to bad though because it went away in about 10 min . after that my nose started getting stuffy i was sneezing 3-4 even 5 times in a row so i went to the doctor they prescribed me AZITHROMYCIN tablets and METHYLPREDNISOLONE tablets and a PROAIR HFA inhaler. i took all this as instructed and i was still very congested . so i went back to the doctor again a few days later this made me upset because the doctor i had i don't think knew what they were doing they prescribed me BENZONATATE a cough suppressant and they said i may have allergies which i never have before.. so they made me get claritin D too .. Now Ive been taking these for a bit now and claritin D does not help with my stuffy nose or my chest congestion at all neither does the BENZONATATE . I don't know what i should do i am a smoker but i only smoke 1-4 ciggs a day . The mucus i manage to get up is more of a clear color i have no chest pains at all . Anyone have any advice on what i should do or what i could have .. do you think i should go back to the doctors ?
